I know that we have all heard of the movie "Courageous" by now and most of us have watched it maybe even more than once. However, after all the excitement dies down from the motion picture, will we remain courageous? Will we make "courage" a lifestyle?
I want to dedicate this new blog page to men. The reason for this is that I personally see the need, not only in the church, but in every segment of society for men to stand up and have courage and lead in the ways and plans that God has directed them to lead. I think for the sake of society, the family, the church and ourselves, we need to be standing strong as God-led, God loving men. Here goes:
I read a story recently that took place on April 19, 2005-Courage went to work that day. The place was the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.
For 72 hours people from all over the world gathered to rescue those that were trapped from the terrorist bombing that took place.
Story after story began to surface of rescuers digging into the darkness and pockets of debris hoping for a pulse and praying for am miracle. A miracle occurred late that first evening when the weak cries of Diana Bradley were heard. She had been pinned under the rubble for 10 hours. She was being choked by dust and was nearly in shock when relief finally came to her. Her leg was caught under steel and concrete. The doctors knew that she would die before rescuers could extract her so they came in to amputate her leg. No anesthesia, no nurses, no high-speed instruments-only a doctor with a sharp scalpel.
Three months later to the day Diana was wearing a prosthesis as she held a news conference in Oklahoma City. She praised the COURAGE of those who saved her life! (taken from Stan Toler devotions)
-Where do you need courage today? At home? Being a leader in the home? At work? In the church?
-Draw upon the strength of the Holy Spirit, men of courage and remember: Courage is a gift from God that enables us to see beyond the moment into the eternal eyes of the Heavenly Father!
Final Thought: Name the most challenging thing in your life right now; own it. Now surrender control of that situation to God! Be blessed men! God is on your side.
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you"
---Deuteronomy 31:6
God bless each of you today!
